DR VICTOR LIM FEI

Victor Lim Fei received the Singapore Government Ministry of Education Postgraduate Scholarship for his doctorate in Multimodal Literacy in 2008. As a PhD Research Scholar in the Multimodal Analysis Laboratory, Interactive Digital Media Institute, he was also granted Full-Tuition Fees Waiver from NUS. Victor was awarded the NUS Research Scholarship for the final year of his PhD candidature in 2011.

Victor received the Public Service Commission Scholarship for his BA (Merit) in English Literature and BA (Hons) in English Language in 1997. Following that, he completed the Accelerated Masters Programme by Research in 2002 under the NUS Research Scholarship. His dissertation on Developing an Integrative Multisemiotic Model resulted in 3 book chapter contributions with international publishers.

Victor joined the Ministry of Education as a General Paper Lecturer in Aug 2004 and took on appointments as Level Head/ General Paper in 2005 till 2007. During this period, Victor also took on concurrent appointments as Subject Head/ Communications and Marketing (2006) and School Staff Developer (2007) in Jurong Junior College.

He continued to be prolific in his research and published papers and a book chapter in Pedagogy, Curriculum Design and General Paper teaching. For his work, Victor received the Teacher Researcher Award in 2006 and 2007 and was part of the team which received the Outstanding Contribution Award in 2005 and 2006.

Victor is a founding member and serves on the Board of directors (non-remunerative) for CityCare, a non-profit organisation set up in 2007 for local community work and overseas humanitarian effort. He has been passionately involved in community service since pre-university days, serving in the executive committee of the college’s Interact Club. During his University years, he also served as the President of NUS Eusoff Hall Voluntary Corps (EVC), overseeing its expansion to 3 services, from the elderly living alone to children with cancer and the mentally disabled, as well as growing the Corps from 20 to more than a 100 members. EVC won the LIA Award for outstanding service to the community. For his contributions, Victor was awarded the Hall Excellence Award.

Victor also serves actively as a volunteer in his church.
